Pablo Olaya, a highly accomplished Mexican composer, pianist, and arranger currently residing in the UK, has dedicated his life to the art of music composition. His journey began with a piano performance degree from Music City College, and he further honed his skills through postgraduate studies in Composition for Film, Theatre, and Dance, Axiomatic Composition, and Composition for String Quartet under the guidance of the renowned Enrico Chapela.
Pablo's musical creations traverse classical, contemporary, and jazz styles, reflecting his multifaceted approach to music. He elevates visual storytelling through sound branding and the creation of evocative scores for audiovisual projects. In 2018, he achieved a significant milestone by establishing "Ovalo Music Studio," a dedicated space for artistic exploration, where he has successfully undertaken over +100 projects.
His composition "Ándale" is a testament to his talent, earning him recognition in the National Orchestral Composition Competition - Raíces in 2020. This piece takes listeners on a captivating musical journey through time, skillfully incorporating traditional Mexican instruments.
"Quarantine," his first concept album, offers a glimpse into his personal experiences during a turbulent period. He artfully captures moments of normalcy, the uncertainties of the pandemic, and the hope of future reunions.
His notable composition, "Dualitas," created for the Cuarteto Latinoamericano, delves into the profound theme of life and death through a mesmerizing string quartet.
In 2014, he created “Nican Mopohua the Musical” which played a pivotal role in his composition career. Engaging an audience of more than 3,000 people over a span of two years. Pablo directed over 30 aspiring actors, composed 20 orchestral songs, crafted the play's narrative, and directed the orchestra.
Pablo's talents extend to the stage as well, with roles as a pianist and musical director for "Mocedades" since 2014, he's had international tours playing in Mexico, United States, Spain, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama, among others. In 2018 and 2019 he participated as a pianist in the shared tour with Armando Manzanero, “Manzanero / Mocedades” and in 2022 in the shared tour of Mexico, with Alex Ubago. Likewise, he has participated as a musical and vocal arranger for Mocedades, highlighting his arrangements for symphony orchestra in the production “Mocedades Sinfónico” presented and recorded at the National Auditorium in Mexico City (2018).
